Zoo and Botanic garden originally built by the French in 1864, according to the botanical garden planning Emperor Louis XIII of France at the time, to place animal conservation and nursery. Louis Pierre, curator of the garden plant care Botanic Calcutta (India) to work as director of the garden. Botanical Gardens officially opened to visitors in 1869.

In 1924, the campus was expanded to 13ha garden on the north bank Thi Nghe canal. In 1926, to commemorate those who died as a soldier Vietnam for France during World War I, France had built next to the main gate of a Memorial Garden (now the Hung Kings Temple) architecture of tombs in Hue. In 1956, the Botanical Garden are planning to rebuild and renamed Zoo.
